• Locate the water leak

The ceiling or walls sometime show some signs of moisture or signs of falling structural integrity. It may start to crumble or sag. Other signs that you might be able to spot is the coffee-colored stains that may extend over time. Make sure to locate the source of the water leak before doing any restoration because it will bring you nowhere with restoration if you can’t fix the source of the water problem. We recommend you to do an advanced investigation and remove damaged drywall for you to see more clearly where the leak is.

• Release the damaged drywall

Release the damaged drywall to eradicate dust and debris as well as to catch the drywall pieces. Check to identify how much damage it costs you. Next thing to do is to remove compromised drywall by hand (recommended to use the claw end of a hammer). As drywall panels may only reveal water stains but aren’t structurally compromised, cut out the damaged space to restore them. Utilize a keyhole saw to cut the hole into a rectangular shape.

• Do the restoration

Measure the shape you cut previously and use these measurements to cut off a replacement piece of drywall to fit 2” wider and 2" longer than the hole. Next, up, quantify the 1" from all four edges and create a line using a marker. Then, erase all the damaged drywall and apply new wallboard based on the proper measurement.

• Start painting!

Pick your own desired color then start rolling from right to left and left to right. Use light strokes to paint from the top to bottom of the wall and re-roll across the ceiling.

The last thing you need to do is cleaning up your new wallboard. Take all the used paint cans and dirts to trash but carefull to carry those used cans to avoid damaging any fresh paint. Well done! Now you have done a proper water damage restoration on your wall/ceiling.
